All pearls found on this site are freshwater cultured pearls. Individually selected by hand by our team of expert, we are purchasing these pearls directly from the farms cultivating them. Do not be fooled by Companies claiming to own pearl farms in China. We have been in business for more than 15 years and have yet to meet one.

Freshwater pearls are typically grown in mussels in lakes or rivers. It takes an average of 6 years for a mussel to produce a pearl having a chance of being elected by New Legend Pearls. Actually, we are so selective in our sorting process that only the top 3 to 4% of production is being sold by New Legend Pearls.

At this point, there are no international standards on how to classify pearls. The good news is that the GIA is currently developing one, which will help leveling the field when it comes to assess pearl quality and therefore value. As pearls are a natural product, no two pearls are alike.
Be sure to read more in the About Pearls section.
